The source
The source is the UK House Price Index of HM Land Registry, the Office for National Statistics, Registers of Scotland and LPS Northern Ireland: a hedonic, mix-adjusted index for all property types, not seasonally adjusted, for the UK, 12 regions and nations and 360 local authorities.
What the figures are
Start of selected period = 100. UK House Price Index (all property types, not seasonally adjusted), each quarter the mean of its three monthly values. Gold: the index divided by the quarter’s average gold price in pounds per gram (GC=F × GBP=X); US dollars: multiplied by the quarter’s average dollars per pound.
Quarters and revisions
A quarter is the mean of its three monthly index values and appears once its third month is published. The local authorities’ values are smoothed by the publisher, and Northern Ireland’s local authority values change quarterly. The publisher revises the latest twelve months with each publication (for Northern Ireland’s local authorities the latest four quarters), and changes are computed from the published index, which has one decimal.
Local authorities
Selecting a region or nation opens its local authorities in place, colored by the same index over the same quarters and on the scale of that unit’s own authorities. The Isles of Scilly are not covered by the index and are drawn hatched. The local authorities across the UK are ranked apart from the regions and nations.
