BATAVIA — A two-time ex-con, a parolee from Albion and a city woman were all charged in connection with a Genesee County Drug Task Force investigation into the sale of drugs. The arrests came after task force agents raided a house at 126 State St. Tuesday. Kenneth J. Campbell, 34, of Oak Street was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Andrew W. The Days Inn and Super 8 Hotels suddenly closed almost two months ago, turning off all utilities, making the building unsafe for occupancy. The owner of the two hotels, Yamuna Hospitality LLC, at 200 Oak street, advised the City of Batavia they would be leaving the country on September 12, 2022, and they would return in a few months. ROCHESTER — A North Chili man who sued the city of Batavia, claiming police brutality, was found guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court of trying to collect nearly $900,000 in federal Payroll Protection Program funds. Michael B. Rech, 51, was convicted by a federal jury of 37 counts of bank fraud, wire fraud and money laundering. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.
